Check whether your email and password have been leaked

Prevent others from seeing your location data

Stop Google from storing your data:

Go to your myactivity.google.com
Click on Location History
Either click on auto-delete and set it to 3 months (recommended), or turn it off entirely

Stop your phone from storing your data (Android):

Go to Settings > Location > Google Location History>Switch Location off

Stop your phone from storing your data (iPhone):

In Settings, go to Privacy
Select "Location Services"
Scroll through your applications to understand which ones are collecting location data
To turn off location access to a specific application, select the app, then select "Never"

iOS 14 allows you to share your general location, instead of your precise location. Enable this by going to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and then check the settings for apps that have access to your location.

Prevent apps from collecting camera, SMS and other data

If you have an Android device, open the Settings app:

Tap Apps & Notifications
Tap the app you want to update
Tap Permissions

Choose which permissions you want the app to have, like Camera or Phone

If you have an iOS device:

Open the Settings
Tap Privacy to see all available permissions
Tap on any entry to see the apps granted those permissions
Disable any permissions that are not needed

Turn off targeted ads on social media

Google:

Go to myactivity.google.com (sign-in, if needed)
On the left panel, click on “Other Google Activity”
Scroll down to Google Ad Settings, which is under “Other Activity”
Click on “Manage Ads Settings”
Turn it off

Facebook:

Go to your facebook home page (sign-in, if needed)
Search for “privacy shortcuts” and click on the top result
Scroll down and click on “See Your Ad Settings”, in the ‘Ad Preferences’ Section
Click on each of the four links under “Manage Data Used to Show You Ads”
Turn off all the settings

Twitter:

Go to your twitter account (sign-in, if needed)
Look for “Settings and Privacy”

On desktop - Click on “More” in the panel on the left
On phone – click on the three lines on the top-left and scroll down

Now click on “Privacy and Safety”
Turn off data sharing

On desktop - Click on each of the four links under “Data Sharing and Off-Twitter Activity”. Turn off all settings.
On phone – scroll down to “Personalisation and data”. Click on it, and turn it all off.
